Cupcake Erasers

Check out these super cute cupcake erasers!!! I have one that's a vanilla cake with light pink frosting and to tell you the truth, I can't bring myself to actually use it!!!! It's just too cute! So, I added it to my cupcake shrine!!!! :-)

Beach Cupcakes

I made beach cupcakes today! I'll post the recipe later. It was really easy and they turned out GREAT!!!!

My aunt's friend commented shortly after she posted a picture of the cupcakes. She said, if we add chocolate chips to the water part, we could call it the Gulf Coast Cupcake!!!! The chocolate chips would represent tarballs!!!!

Cupcake Necklace

I used to have one of these, but after wearing it everyday for months, it broke. Hopefully, I'm going to go get it fixed soon. Isn't it adorable? Mine was a hot pink cupcake with vanilla frosting, chocolate fudge, and sprinkles. Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

I recently made Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes and my little sister LOVED them! It was a whole lot simpler than it sounds and looks. All you have to do is place the flat end of the ice cream cone in the cupcake pan. The cones are smaller than the holders in the pan, but I didn't have any problems with that. Then, I filled the cones 3/4 of the way (a full ice cream scoop) with batter and put them in the oven on 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Finally, frost and decorate the cupcakes. I would recommend using white frosting, fudge, and sprinkles to mimic the look of a real ice cream. This recipe is great for birthdays! :-) The picture at the top looks a lot like mine turned out. Later, I'll post pictures of mine. So keep checking my blog for updates!

DC Cupcakes

DC Cupcakes

If you click on the link above, you can get instant access to sneak peeks and previews to the original Tlc show DC Cupcakes. The show is about two sisters who leave their jobs to follow their dream of cupcake making. They set up a shop in Washington, DC and turned it into a very successful business.

I absolutely LOVED the premiere of DC Cupcakes! The first episode was about Valentine's Day madness. Red velvet is the top seller on Valentine's Day, so they had to make a ton of those. To add to the chaos, they took an order for a 1,000 cupcake display for the St. Jude's Foundation that had to have a Marti Gras theme. The cupcake display ended up falling apart, and they had to remake the Marti Grascupcake mask. The second episode was about a charity for dogs. The sisters had to design a dog shaped cupcake display (with a friend's help) to bring to the event. I am definitely looking forward to upcoming shows and can't wait!!! To catch reruns, check the schedule below....

Friday, July 16, 2010

This is the recipe we used, but ours didn't quite turn out so good.
Hey! Friday didn't turn out how it was planned, but I still had a blast!!! I went to my aunt's house to make a cake, instead of cupcake day. Cupcake day will be postponed until next week. The cake was cherry chocolate and it turned out great. Though I had fun today, I was still remided why I love cupcakes. We had a few cake disasters. One cake layer fell apart (that would never happen with a cupcake). The cake still tasted GREAT though!!! It had a cherry/sour cream frosting and a creamy chocolate base. YUM!!!! Also, the cake was topped with chocolate dipped cherries. I have plans to turn the cake recipe into a cupcake recipe soon, so I'll blog after the results. :-)

Cupcake Lip Balm

For my last birthday, my sister gave me cupcake lip gloss. It's a little pricey, but it's the best lip gloss I've ever had and trust   me, I've had a LOT! It's about ten dollars. It smells GREAT and it would last a long time. I've had mine for about a year. Check it out at the link below!

Cupcake Bank

What's a better way to save money than in a cupcake bank? I got a cute cupcake bank from Urban Outfitters in Atlanta, GA. The price ranges from ten to fifteen dollars depending on where you buy it. Look it up! I'm sure you'd enjoy saving money in this money savor. Even I do and it's not one of my favorite things to do! :-P Check it out! type in cupcake bank in your google task bar and browse!

Frosting Filled Cupcakes

One day when I was at my Grandma's house, she made me, my sisters, and my cousin cupcakes. My cousin had a great idea! She wanted to make the cupcakes frosting filled! So we carefully took a knife and cut a circle in the middle of the cupcake, but not all the way to the bottom. Then, we carved the circle out with a spoon and filled the hole with chocolate frosting (it doesn't have to be chocolate obviously). Finally, we replaced the top back on and it was done!!! Another way to do it was to buy the frosting in a can that comes with a frosting tip and just stick the tip in the center of the top of the cupcake and squeeze the tip to make the frosting come out. I love these cupcakes because they are just as good as normal cupcakes, but the are a LOT cleaner and not as messy unless you add more frosting on top (i wouldn't suggest you do so, but some people would disagree).

Giant Cupcake Liner

I've never seen one of these and I thought it was kind of interesting. If your looking for a large flower pot, mini sandbox, mini wading pool, or a creative pet bed, check this out....

Cupcake Bath Bombs

Oh my cupcake!!! I just found these amazing cupcake bath bombs. I'm totally going to make these later! Check out the video at the link below. You're guarantied to love them!

Cupcake Utensils

My aunt gave me the idea to blog about utensils, so that is what I'll do.

A basic and semi necessary tool used with cupcakes is a frosting/piping bag. You can buy a disposable one ($7-30 per pack) or one that can be used over and over. The reusable bag ($7) costs more, but I would suggest buying it instead of a disposable bag. You can buy frosting tips ($2) for both kinds of bags. Different tips can be used for different things, such as, leaves, words, or flowers. Of course, if you don't want to buy a bag, I have a trick you can try that uses household items. All you have to do is take a Ziploc bag and cut the tip off of one of the bottom corners. Remember to cut the tip off AFTER you fill the bag with heaping spoons of frosting. It just makes it a lot easier.

Another tool that make frosting easier is a frosting knife ($3-12). I recently purchased one. It gives the cupcake a smooth surface. It's not very necessary, but it's nice to have around.

Another great thing to buy for cupcake making is a pack of silicone cup liners ($10-15 per pack). You end up buying so many disposable liners, that it ends up being a small fortune. Well, one way to stop wasting money is to buy silicone liners that can be reused. They are very convenient! I'd go to the store right now and buy them if I were you. I highly suggest purchasing a pack or two.

If you are making cupcakes for a special occasion, I would buy a cupcake stand. You can buy a reusable ($5-32) or a disposable stand ($7-15). You can easily display multiple cupcake at a time on a stand, or if you just want to display a few, you can buy a cupcake pedestal ($10-18 both pack and individual).

Have you ever had a hard time transporting cupcakes? Buy a cupcake carrier that can hold multiple cupcakes ($15-20). Or, if you just have to carry one, you can use a smaller holder that only holds one cupcake ($3-5).

Cupcake Lip Gloss

hese are REALLY cute cupcake lip glosses!!! I have one, but it looks different from these (same company though). These can be purchased from Urban Outfitters. I got mine from Hollipops (in Charleston, SC). The four pack is ten dollars, but you can find them at other stores that sell them separately for a lower price. There are also more designs, these are only four of the many. Click on the link below to take a look at these sweet treats!

Sunflower Cupcakes

I made these one day for fun. It was a while ago so if I made them again today, they would look a lot better than the picture to the right. This photo was taken before I was a very skilled baker :-) about a year or two ago. Also, the photo quality isn't so great. The photo at the bottom of this post is one off the internet. They were really fun to make! All you have to do was make the cupcakes (just how you normally would). Then, you put a thin layer of green frosting on top of the cupcake and stick an Oreo (normal size) on the top of the frosting. You can stick it to the cupcake with frosting. After that, you can use a frosting bag (or a Ziploc bag with a hole cut in one bottom corner) with vanilla frosting (dyed yellow) in it to create the petals around the Oreo. Finally, you do the same thing, except with green frosting to make a leave on the side of your flower. You can get the right shades of yellow and green using food dye. For more skilled bakers, you can even put a lady bug on top. You use a red m&m and draw details with black frosting.

All About "Cupcake Girl"

I live in Charleston, SC and LOVE cupcakes. There all I can think about! I enjoy eating them, but most of all I like to make them! When I get older, my only dream is that I will be able to own a cupcake shop. I've already started making and creating flavors, designing my logo, and deciding which cities I would prefer to place the shops in. One day, me and my aunt were talking about my cupcake future and I mentioned a blog. That's when I looked into starting one of my very own because I had followed cupcake blogs before and found them fun and useful.

Cupcake Girl

Hi! I'm Cupcake Girl! I LOVE cupcakes and decided a fun way to display all of my cupcake ideas would be to create a blog. In this blog, you will find recipes, pictures, and other cute cupcake things. Enjoy!!!
